Emilia Sánchez Chiquetti

Director and Producer, "DeMaré: A sensory journey into the depths of the ocean"

Emilia Sánchez Chiquetti is an Argentine-Brazilian director and producer who graduated from the National University of the Arts in Buenos Aires. She is the founder of Presencias, a Latin American studio specializing in audiovisual, theatrical, and extended reality (XR) works that explore the synergies between bodies, spaces, and narratives.

Her most recent project as a director and producer, Origen, premiered at the 80th Venice Biennale and has received international recognition, including the Unity for Humanity Environment and Sustainability Award and a designation of Cultural Interest by the Argentine Embassy in Colombia. Origen has been nominated for prestigious awards such as the Best Social Impact Award at the Unity Awards 2023, the Fight Climate Change Award at AWE XR 2023, and the LAVAL Awards in France. Additionally, it won Best Storytelling at the Czech Republic Art VR Festival and was nominated for Best of XR at Games for Change 2024 in New York.

The experience has been featured at major events worldwide, including Immersive Tech Week in Rotterdam, the Imagine Film Festival in the Netherlands, Dok Fest and the Festival of the Future in Munich, the Shanghai and Beijing International Film Festivals, the Istanbul Digital Art Festival, Anifilm in the Czech Republic, and Docs Against Gravity in Poland.
In 2015, Emilia founded Presencias, which has produced interdisciplinary projects, including the first immersive theater play in the dome of Bogotá's Planetarium.

She also directed the 360-degree live broadcast of the Cosquín Rock Argentina festival for 170,000 viewers and has produced over 70 360-degree commercials across South, Central, and North America, as well as Europe.

Beyond her audiovisual work, Emilia has written and directed theater plays in unconventional spaces and developed immersive content for museums, national parks, and brands globally. She established a workshop-laboratory for researching acting poetry in immersive narratives at the National University of the Arts and served as a curator for the XRAR Festival in Buenos Aires.
Emilia is a frequent speaker at international summits, including the Unity for Humanity Summit, the Festival of the Future in Munich, and Stereopsia, where she shares insights on the intersection of art, environment, and conservation. Her creative work continues to bridge technology, storytelling, and cultural preservation, earning her a prominent place in the immersive arts landscape.
