FilmGate Miami co-founder honored at the Palais de Tokyo by a jury chaired by the Getty Trust’s Katherine Fleming and including Christie’s CEO Bonnie Brennan and filmmaker Mati Diop
PARIS — October 12, 2026 — Diliana Alexander, Executive Director and Co-Founder of FilmGate Miami, has been named one of the 100 Women of Culture 2026, an honor presented by the French nonprofit Women of Culture (Femmes de Culture). She was recognized today at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, in the presence of French Minister of Culture Catherine Pégard.
This year’s eighth edition, the Getty Edition, celebrates women strengthening cultural ties between France and the United States. Honorees were selected by an international jury under two honorary chairs: Katherine E. Fleming, President and CEO of the J. Paul Getty Trust, and Patricia Barbizet, former president of Christie’s International. The jury members were:
-
Bonnie Brennan, CEO of Christie’s
-
Mati Diop, director and winner of the Cannes Grand Prix and the Berlinale Golden Bear
-
Mélanie Biessy, co-founder of Théâtre La Scala Paris and Scala Films
-
Tatyana Franck, President of L’Alliance New York
-
Anne-Claire Legendre, President of the Institut du Monde Arabe
-
Tania de Montaigne, author and playwright
-
Marie-Christine Saragosse, President and CEO of France Médias Monde
“Diliana Alexander embodies exactly what this Getty Edition celebrates: women who build bridges between cultures and open new spaces for creation,” said Stéphan Paris, Founding Director of Femmes de Culture. “With FilmGate Miami, she has made new forms of storytelling, at the crossroads of film and technology, a meeting point between Miami, Europe and the world. We are proud to count her among our one hundred laureates.”
Alexander was recognized for expanding access to film, immersive storytelling and emerging technology, and for creating opportunities for the next generation of storytellers.
“I’m deeply honored to be recognized in Paris, a city that has always believed in the transformative power of art and imagination,” said Alexander. “Culture is not a luxury — it is how we shape our future. Every voice deserves to be heard, and every imagination deserves the power to change the world. That belief drives everything we do at FilmGate Miami: opening doors, breaking barriers and empowering the next generation of storytellers. Thank you to the jury — merci beaucoup!”
