Michelle Carter

Michelle Carter is a program officer in the arts program at Knight Foundation, where she leads grantmaking and strategic partnerships that strengthen the role of arts and culture in community life. She collaborates with artists, cultural organizations, and civic partners to expand access to the arts and support vibrant cultural ecosystems. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience in the arts, including a background in dance and studies in geology, Michelle is particularly interested in how artists help communities understand and connect to the places they inhabit.
