About the event
Harness the power of improvisation to create your next film project! In From Nothing to Outline: A Filmmaker's Improv Lab with David Christopher, filmmakers come in with a blank canvas and will use improvisation to create rich and authentic characters and perform unscripted scenes as a launch pad to develop an outline for their next film project, and all within the workshop!
Why the Drama? LAB meets Improv LAB — a workshop-style session bringing writers and actor-improvisers into the room to develop scripts in real time.
Actor/improvisers will perform 1–2 scenes from selected scripts, then improvise off the material to explore character voice, relationships, subtext, and new story beats. This process helps writers pressure-test dialogue out loud and leave with actionable creative insights for pre-production.
Workshop goals:
Pressure-test dialogue out loud
Explore character voice, relationships, and subtext
