MIAMI @ PLAY FESTIVAL 

The Miami @ Play is a curated collection of art and design work that seeks to demonstrate a range of playful experiences. This exhibition champions the diversity and potential of play and the unique ways that games can build community, transcend language, and serve as artistic medium. Whether toy, video game, board game, big game, or another type of playful experience, Miami @ Play's goal is to showcase how games can move us to joy, tears, critical reflection, and social change. This exhibition is curated and organized in collaboration with FilmGate Miami. The curators are:

The selected projects will be open to the public and shown among leading creative work in interactive media and film. All selected works for Miami @ Play will run from December 1 - 4, 2018, in downtown Miami with some submissions remaining installed until December 6, 2018, and the start of Art Basel.

 

 

⫸ VANDALS

A tribute game to street-art. In this turn-based infiltration game for smartphones and PC/Mac, players need to sneak past police, cameras and dogs to successfully paint their latest work. Aspiring artists will discover the work of 40 real-life, iconic street artists, and learn how they have influenced urban culture in the some of the most iconic street art cities including Paris, New York, Berlin, Tokyo and Sao Paulo.

⫸ BURY ME, MY LOVE

Inspired by real events and imbued with themes of love, hope and migration, Bury me, my Love tells the story of Syrian refugee Nour and her husband Majd as Nour undertakes a perilous journey to safety. The title of the story-driven interactive fiction comes from the Syrian goodbye phrase that roughly means “Take care, and don’t even think about dying before I do.” This phrase takes on a deeper meaning as players take on the role of Majd, who is forced to stay behind and can only able to communicate with his wife through their smartphones. By reading instant messages and choosing response options, players help Nour overcome the hardships she will encounter, with the story featuring multiple endings.
