A Commercial Director with 20 years of advertising experience, Leo Zanis studied at Juilliard School of Music before attending Pratt Institute in Advertising and Film. His combined studies developed his appreciation for complete storytelling.
Leo put his knowledge to use in the ad agency world as an Art Director and as a freelance director at SpikeTV/Viacom and other TV production houses. He has worked for clients such as M-Benz, USNavy, Humana, Michelin and Sprint at agencies such as Merkley and Partners, Saatchi & Saatchi and Chiat Day in New York.
Over the past years, his work has garnered many industry awards including D&AD, ADDY, CLIOs, Telly, The One Show, Worldfest International Awards, Caples International Awards, Art Directors Club, The New York Film Festival, Creativity and others.
As an owner and director of Caps & Crowns, Leo supervises production, post, and creative services, working with agencies and creative teams from storyboards to completion. Clients include ACartAcrossWales.com, Ecko Unlimited, E!, ING Bank, City Harvest, National Coalition for the Homeless, Humana, US Navy and NY Knicks.
Through his old company Droog, Leo also worked with Spike TV and MTV in New York, where he directed promos for the SpikeTV programming. Was instrumental in creating characters for the CSI series called “Office CSI.” Leo directed episodes for “On the road with the band” Sugar Ray and “Celebrity Car Show” with Funkmaster Flex.
Before starting Caps and Crowns Leo has directed freelance through prestigious production companies like Backyard, The Joneses, Streetlight Films and Group101Spots.
