Description:
Traces is a multimedia performance in which all components are conceived in their potential for mutual interaction. The “traces” are the imprinted on the screen signs, shaped by the sounds and movements of the soloist. Thanks to the SABRE© sensor, the clarinet is transformed into an "augmented instrument," capable of sending spatial information to the video generation software, appropriately programmed to translate this data into abstract and dynamic forms. The screen thus becomes a blank canvas on which clouds, spheres, charcoal textures and luminescent trails appear. The visuals are also influenced by the sounds produced by the clarinet, which emphasize their dynamism and human quality. In the acoustic dimension, the notes of the clarinet receive foundation and support from electronic oscillators tuned with the harmonics of the instrument. The electronics in turn send propulsive energy to the soloist, proposing timbral variations, pitch glissandi and distortions to the limits of noise. The only electronic sound not created in real-time is a beat made up of clarinet recordings, fragmented and rearranged in a nonlinear sequence that the two musicians specifically choose before each performance, to make it completely new and unrepeatable. The result is a synesthetic and transformative journey, oscillating between extreme delicacy and the power of repetition.
