Fresh off the planetarium premiere of #DRIFT, join us for an intimate Creator Talk with French director and multidisciplinary visionary Frédéric Deslias.
A multidisciplinary artist, stage director, sound designer, and digital creator, Frédéric Deslias has spent over two decades shaping a visionary body of work that sits at the intersection of live performance, emerging technologies, and artistic-scientific research. As the founder of Le Clair Obscur, he explores the boundaries between reality and fiction, stage and digital space, human and machine.
This masterclass offers an in-depth exploration of Deslias' artistic universe through an illustrated presentation of key works. It will serve as a space for transmission, reflection, and dialogue on immersive forms and hybrid systems—blending performance, theater, sound, video, and interactive technologies.Deslias will address the challenges of immersive creation: how to envelop the spectator, manipulate perception, and treat space as a communicative language. He will share insights into collective creation processes, using the stage as a lab for experimentation, and emphasizing the role of collaboration in his artistic practice.
Special focus will be given to the idea of form as a vehicle for meaning, where each work questions the world through critical, political, or poetic lenses. Science fiction, a recurring element in his work, acts as a tool to imagine alternative futures and craft new narratives outside dominant paradigms.
Topics covered include the conceptual and technical tools behind his work:
Interactive and non-linear storytelling
Sound spatialization
Video mapping and visual narration
Immersive dome or VR environments
Real-time interaction and sensor-based installations
Creative coding and transmedia logic
