We all know that to make a great movie, you need a fantastic screenplay. Learn the essential elements and finally finish your screenplay with this super-intensive screenwriting workshop, taught by University of Miami Professor and award-winning screenwriter, Margaret Cardillo. We'll be discussing everything from getting started and screenplay structure to the subtle nuances such as subtext and tone, that make good screenplays great. Perfect for aspiring storytellers of all skill levels!

Eligibility Open to Florida filmmakers. The Screenwriters Lab supports writers and writer/directors developing their first or second narrative feature film in Florida.  

Description The Screenwriters Lab is an eight-week workshop that gives you  the opportunity to work intensively on your feature film scripts in an environment that encourages originality, innovation, risk-taking and community feedback.  You will learn crafts and techniques to develop your theme, story and characters, in order to fully realize your vision. Make your screenplay GREAT with FilmGate.

About the Instructor

MARGARET CARDILLO
Margaret Cardillo is a Florida native. She earned two MFAs--one in Creative
Writing and one in Screenwriting--from the University of Miami on
fellowship. Her children’s book, JUST BEING AUDREY, a biography of Audrey
Hepburn for children, won the Florida Book Award Gold Medal in
2011. Margaret's next book, a children’s biography of Jackie Kennedy
Onassis, will be published in 2017. Margaret's film, POSTHUMOUS, won an
Emmy in the student category, received several Best of Fest awards, and is
being screened on Virgin Atlantic Airlines. Her print work has been
recognized by Wine Spectator, therumpus.net, Kore Press, Mangrove, and Sun
Sentinel. Margaret is a professor of screenwriting at the University of
Miami and lives with her family in Miami.
