Talashimaii is an experimental feature film directed by Carla Forte and Alexey Taran that seeks to highlight the beauty of the simple and the quotidian; to rescue those moments, full of life, that characterize us as human beings beyond social, racial, or gender distinctions. Talashimaii is the fulfilling state of being that is lasting and not merely transient.  

Video accompanies by live dance and music.



Carla Forte is a performer, scriptwriter and director. Forte is the Founder and Executive Director of Bistoury Physical Theatre and Film. 

Her Video-Art works have been featured at the 10th Experiments in Cinema New Mexico (2015); 10th Annual Film and Video Screenings Newark (2015); 

20th Cucalorus Film Festival Wilmington (2014); 27th Les Instants Vidéo Italy (2014); Pool 14 Internationale TanzFilmPlattform Berlin (2014); 

Art Screening at Trestle Gallery Brooklyn (2014) and 21st Quinzena de Danca de Almada, Portugal (2013). Her documentary The Holders was the official selection at the  32nd Miami International Film Festival (2015), her feature film Urban Stories, was the winner of the Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Feature Film at the Bootleg Film Festival Toronto (2012); and Honorable Mention at both Los Angeles Movies Awards (2011) and Lucerne International Film Festival, Switzerland (2012).



Born in Santa Clara, Cuba. He grew up in Havana and graduated from Cuban National Ballet School /Cuba’s National Art Schools. Taran became a ballet dancer of the Cuban National Ballet Company (1998-1990). He has taught at the Cuban National School of Dance, Festival of Contemporary Performing Art Ljubljana, Slovenia, the Ballet Nacional de Caracas Teresa Carreño Venezuela and Teatro Madders Valledupar, Colombia among others. Alexey´s work has been presented at the Miami Theater Center, the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, the Biennale di Venice, Italy, XVII International Festival Sarajevo in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the New Dance International Festival, Peru, the International Contemporary Dance Festival Volgograd, Russia, the  Internationals Summer Theater Festival Hamburg, among others.

Alexey´s work has won more than 20 National and International awards like Guggenheim Fellowship, Dance Miami Choreographers' (DMC) Program, Individual Artist Fellowship Program from the Department of State, and the New Time´s Master Mind Award.
