High Dynamic Range (HDR) will dramatically affect motion picture and live production, program distribution and viewing. HDR, combined with 4K UHD, will allow the home viewer to experience contrast and color that may fundamentally change production and storytelling. This presentation will cover issues facing the content creators. How do you shoot for HDR? Challenges facing HDR/SDR simulcasting, practical workflows and the applications of live and post produced HDR imagery. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures feature film, Tomorrowland, and Amazon’s Mozart in the Jungle will be discussed as real world case studies. A demonstration of live HDR will also be shown.
