Surrounded by his advisors, Henri Laborde enters the spacious elevator. Who should he see?

For once in the world of politics, you decide! You are the President of the French Republic. You will have to negotiate expertly to make sure that the next Olympic Games are awarded to Paris. The future of France, possibly the world, is in your hands.

5PM NOTES ON BLINDNESS (FLORIDA PREMIERE)

NOTES ON BLINDNESS

Directed by Peter Middleton and James Spinney

England | 90 Minutes | 2016 | Colour

Documentary

In the early 1980s, after decades of steady deterioration, writer and academic John Hull lost his sight. To help him make sense of the ensuing upheaval in his life, he began to keep an audio diary.

Based on these original recordings and his published diaries ‘Touching the Rock’, Notes on Blindness recreates Hull’s fascinating and deeply moving experiences through an immersive hybrid of documentary, dramatic reconstruction and highly sensory cinematic techniques and sound design. Sensitive, poetic and thought-provoking, the film charts Hull’s journey through emotional turmoil and spiritual crisis to a renewed perception of the world and the discovery of ‘a world beyond sight’.

Notes on Blindness is an ambitious and groundbreaking work - both affecting and innovative - and one of the most essential British documentaries of the year.

The project won the Storyscapes Award at Tribeca Film Festival and the Alternate Realities VR Award at Sheffield Doc/Fest.

SNAKEBIRD INTERACTivE ART INSTALLATION

SnakeBird is an interactive installation that follows an anhinga bird through different parts of the Everglades. The dynamic environment and animals react to the user's presence in front of the display using a depth sensor. Swooping arms will toss a fish to the bird, moving your body side to side will direct the bird underwater and straightening / bending your knees with control the flight of the bird while exploring the terrain. ( This project is a work in progress that is actively under development. )

LOOKING OUT LOOKING IN INTERACTIVE ART INSTALLATION

by Shlomi Ron
www.overlooks.tv

This ambient video installation features a life-size virtual window through which a natural landscape of a serene beach serves as the stage for a poetic narrative. The symmetric dynamic of the minimalistic waves motion, the lounging lone seagull, and the encroaching young couple - creates a meditative visual experience that transforms the physical space from right here to imaginative there while engaging audiences in immersive dialogs with their surroundings. This natural vista demands viewers to look out the window to process the visual narrative and then look in, to process its objective and subjective meanings. The result is a surprising redefinition of the space ambiance into a powerful story maker and the audience into revved-up storytellers.

PRIYA'S MIRROR INTERACTIVE ART INSTALLATION

Explore Priya's Mirror,  technologically innovative and wildly popular interactive comic book, which demonstrates the strength, courage and womanhood of a survivor (sexual violence survivor)
Ram Devineni (Founder & President) is a filmmaker, publisher and founder of Rattapallax films and magazine. He produced, edited and directed the feature documentary The Human Tower, which was shot in India, Chile, and Spain. Recently, he produced The Russian Woodpecker, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. He is the co-creator of the augmented reality comic book, Priya’s Shakti, which received the 2014 Tribeca Film Institute New Media Fund from the Ford Foundation.
